deux fm Materials Used deux fm uses the following fabric compositions and blends: 98% organic denim/2% spandex; 100% organic cotton shirting (Oeko-Tex certified); 58% soy/37% organic cotton/5% spandex; 55% hemp/45% organic cotton; 100% bamboo denim twill; 100% tencel lyocell; 100% organic cotton voile; 100% organic denim (GOTS certified); 100% linen (made in Canada); 14% spandex/ 86% Sorona renewable polymer fiber (made in Canada); 100% hemp heavy woven. Production end pieces are often incorporated into the collections, thus using recycled materials helps divert waste from landfill. Production deux fm’s mission is “to inspire ethical and environmental awareness by implementing sustainable action through innovative design.” The company does this “while utilizing fair labour practices.” deux fm is working with a local manufacturer in Truro, Nova Scotia, where approximately 50% of the collections are made. By presenting at EcoChic Geneva, deux fm has partnered with Green2Greener, and aligned their designs with the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity. deux fm also informs customers on eco friendly laundering options, and all garment labels are made from cotton and not synthetics. In addition hang tags are hand made and printed on 100% hemp paper, with 100% certified organic wool yarn or vintage silk ribbon ties. FTA Comments : We like deux fm's mission and commitment to both the social and environmental impacts namely through the use of sustainable fabrics, water based inks and printing choices. We would however love to see more information on the website regarding manufacturing and fabric sourcing.
