Design

Natural colours transcend seasons, and there is a clear emphasis on simple lines, and classic designs.

Special Features

Nixxi presented their designs as an “Eco & Ethical Ready-To-Wear Label” at the EcoChic Fashion Show and Exhibition in Geneva in January. By presenting at EcoChic Geneva, Nixxi has partnered with Green2Greener, and aligned their designs with the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity.

FTA Comments :

We like the use of sustainable fabrics and local production. However we would like to see more certification schemes to back up the organic fabric claims.

Bamboo Disclaimer

Due to the facts that surround bamboo rayon, FTA has chosen to not include this fabric when determining each of the nominee’s contributions to sustainable fashion. Instead we have chosen to focus only on the fabrics that we think count: organic cotton, hemp, organic wool, ramie, recycled and upcycled fabrics, and the man-made cellulosic fabrics produced in a closed-loop environment, such as Tencel or Modal. We feel that it works against a designer’s sustainable initiatives if they choose to continue working with bamboo, and promoting it as being eco-friendly. For more information, read our article to Be or not to be Bamboo...

"Our Toronto chapter is a proud industry supporter of Fashion Takes Action. We will collaborate again on FTA's annual celebration of eco-friendly couture. Begging us to reconsider the choices we make in our day-to-day lives, FTA's fierce devotion to raising awareness is beyond a fad. Rather, it's an integral direction for our earth's future, and we plan to work closely with them on many levels in 2009".
