Why Partner

The fashion industry produces more than 120 billion garments each year, with over 90 million tonnes ending up in landfill or incineration. This is a global issue, with local impact.

From carbon emissions and plastic pollution to gender inequity and waste colonialism, fashion’s impact reaches every corner of the planet, and every generation.

But there’s reason for hope.

Over 70% of youth believe they can help solve the climate crisis, yet many say they lack the knowledge and tools to act. By linking fashion to planetary health, My Clothes My World turns awareness into action; empowering students aged 9–18 to explore solutions, build critical thinking, and imagine a more sustainable future.

Solving Fashion’s Waste Problem in the U.K.

Fashion Takes Action and GenEarth CIC have partnered to pilot, and scale, the My Clothes My World program  in the UK; empowering young people with practical opportunities to explore solutions and imagine a more positive, responsible, and sustainable future.

Together, we co-created an in-person workshop version of our “Solving Fashion’s Waste Problem” curriculum, a dynamic, hands-on educational experience  for students aged 9 to 18. Through hopeful, solutions-focused learning, students explore strategies to rethink overconsumption, reduce textile waste in their lives and communities, and strengthen the critical thinking skills needed to navigate consumer culture.

The results speak for themselves…
