Inder Bedi
Founder of BEDI
Inder Bedi is a Canadian sustainable fashion pioneer and founder of two influential eco-conscious brands. A graduate of Concordia University, Bedi launched his first venture, Matt & Nat, as an undergrad—revolutionizing the industry with vegan leather and setting a new standard for ethical design. He stepped away from the brand in 2013 after building it into a global success.
Bedi’s current project, BEDI Studios, continues his commitment to sustainability through thoughtful use of upcycled materials such as discarded seatbelts, reclaimed Air Canada leather, and regenerated fishing nets. All designs are made in Canada, with a focus on craftsmanship, community, and full lifecycle responsibility.
Recognized globally for his impact, Bedi was named a United Nations Climate Champion at COP26. He defines true sustainability as a holistic, 360-degree approach—one that considers every step of the process. From the ethical sourcing of materials and transparent production practices, to the skilled community of tailors and makers who bring each design to life, and the Second Life program, which gives previously loved BEDI items a renewed purpose—every element is thoughtfully designed with circularity and integrity at its core.
