Montreal Clothing Swap
Bring clothing you no longer wear. Take home something new-to-you. A free, fun, low-waste way to refresh your wardrobe and discover circular fashion.
In September 2026, Fashion Takes Action hosted a community clothing swap as part of Montréal Fashion Week, offering a fun, affordable, and low-waste way for people to refresh their personal style. Attendees brought clothing they no longer wore and exchanged it for new-to-them pieces, helping extend the life of garments already in circulation.
The event encouraged participants to see the creative potential in clothing that already exists and demonstrated how circular fashion can be stylish, accessible, and individual. Local Montréal fashion designers also contributed pieces from their own closets to the swap, reinforcing the idea that secondhand and swapping are not separate from fashion culture, but can be a creative and fashion-forward way to engage with personal style. By bringing swapping into the Fashion Week experience, we created an opportunity for secondhand shoppers, fashion students, vintage lovers, and those simply curious about circular fashion to participate while celebrating Montréal’s distinct fashion culture
This year, our Montreal swap resulted in…
-
665
items of clothing diverted from landfill
-
484
items swapped
-
181
items donated
